Time is like a face on the water

This past semester flew by. And now time has come to a stand still.

Well the rest of the semester was pretty much spent hanging out with friends, writing papers, and doing other homework.  There were a few moments worthy of noting however.  Dutchmen Day was pretty sweet.  Got a much needed day off and got to do some fun stuff.  Valleyfest was bitchin'.  Between getting to see the Pinheads and Reel Big Fish live, getting thrown into various mosh pits by my brothers, and raising money for my fraternity, it was a great time.
Finals week was also pretty much awesome although stressful.  After writing my final english paper (thank god), Keith, Jess, Allison, and I went to a carnival at F & M.  Dr. E was playing with "Bob Barker and the Right Prices." I don't think I'll ever forget their name.  My brother came up and visited that night too and stayed the rest of the weekend.  Then some fraternity events took place that weekend that were awesome. I finished my finals by Tuesday of that week and was there until Saturday for graduation.  As you can imagine, I partied almost every night after I was finished.  Played laser tag one night, watched movies, went to Chocolate World.  It was an awesome way to start my summer vacation.
My first week back home was pretty cool as well.  I got to go to a Phillies Game for Chapter Day, visited Allison for her "surprise" birthday party, and got to catch up with all my friends from Oxford. Unfortunately that all had to come to an end and I had to go to back to work at the bank.

Working at the bank is getting increasingly harder to swallow.  I really just don't enjoy what I do.  But it's one of the best jobs I can have for where I am in my life.  I just gotta suck it up.  Winter break during my junior year will probably be the last time I have to work there.  Not too much longer and not for really long periods of time either.  I'll manage and the paychecks are worth it.

So not much else has been happening since school let out.  I've been hanging out with Jason mainly.  Tony and Plystak too when they have free time.  I've also been rereading the Dark Tower series.  I'm on the last book again.  Which reminds me I need to buy some new books soon.
I got new speakers installed in my car this past weekend.  My sound system is finally respectable.  It's about time I'm happy with it.  I'm going fishing tomorrow morning with Jason and then we're going to see Iron Maiden tomorrow night in Camden.  This weekend I'm planning on going to Keith's house sometime Saturday night.  At least I got some stuff to look forward to this week.

Smash Bros Ushers in a New Era

So Allison decided to read my xanga tonight, being the creeper that she is.  It made me think about everything that has happened since I started this the summer prior to my sophomore year of high school.  My life has really gone through some major changes, specifically in the past year but that is expected with starting college.  I just find it amusing to look back and see how things have progressed to this point in my life.  Tonight also made me think about deleting my xanga.  Maybe its time to move on, but I don't believe that requires me to delete this and forget what's happened in the past.  I like having this as a sort of archive of my journal entries.

So here's an update.

My last few entries while somewhat childish/angsty/emoish were made when I was incredibly angry because of a situation that I found out about over winter break.  I'm past that now and while those entries actually embarrass me I'm not going to delete them.  Going back to school, I was excited to pick up from where I had left off from the last semester.  I knew pledging was right around the corner as soon as I got back and I was incredibly excited to start that experience.  Early the semester before I had become interested in Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and knew I wanted to learn more about it especially since a lot of my friends were brothers in the fraternity.  So toward the end of January my wait was finally over and I got to begin pledging.

Pledging. It was the quite possibly the most fun, most stressful, and fastest four weeks of my life.  Stressful because the process is very time consuming and I was constantly finding myself asking new questions about what I was being asked to do.  Fun just because I was getting to know all the brothers and my PM class a lot better and all the activities we did were a blast.  Looking back the four weeks went by quickly and I'm really happy I was a part of it.  The weekend after pledging was also incredibly fun, but no need to go into detail.  Eventually I was initiated into the fraternity and I am really happy I get to be a part of such an awesome organization.

Also during this time I met Allison, who is now my girlfriend.  She's an awesome girl.  We've been hanging out a lot and everytime I chill with her we have a good time.

So Smash Bros kinda ushered in a new era of my life. Around this time I gained a brotherhood and a new girlfriend.  By the way, Smash Bros Brawl is a kick ass game.  It was definitely worth the wait and didn't let me down at all.

So although Allison will probably make fun of me for this because "no one reads xangas," I still enjoy writing them.

Why do people make you look like an asshole when you are completely justified in what you feel because it's the truth?

Betrayed?

So basically the past two days have had me feeling the most intense feelings I have in a while.  I don't think I've ever been so angry with anyone before, let alone two people.  I also decided that because of what happened there really is no foundation to build on anymore.  People who recklessly hurt my feelings aren't welcome in my life.

Despite the fact that I had to deal with all that, I'm also glad to realize how awesome my true friends are.  I can never thank Jason, Tony, and Chris Plystak enough for just being who they are.  I'm glad to know that I can always count on them.

What a hell of a ride my first semester was!

Alright, so basically my first semester at college has been one of the best times of my life.

Band camp was fun, but strange.  I was attempting to get to know people and getting used to the whole living on my own thing.  The best aspect of band camp was probably the games Sinfonia set up constantly.  Those probably are my fondest memories of band camp this year.  Next year should be a blast since I know a bunch of people.

Classes starting didn't really affect me too much.  At this point, the classes have not been very challenging.  The main difference I've noticed from high school is that you have more work to do in a shorter period of time but the level of difficulty has not increased greatly.  While on the subject of classes I probably had two favorites although you probably won't consider my lessons a class.  I really like my trumpet professor.  He's an awesome guy and really encourages me to do my best regardless of how I perform from week to week.  He also makes sure I take note of the improvements I've made.  Physics is the other class I'm really enjoying.  My brother being a physics major at LVC made Dr. Day notice me right away and probably gave him some high expectations.  He's probably the funniest teacher I've ever had.  Every class is full of quotable material and it made me always want to go.  Plus, actually learning physics this year as opposed to the "physics" I learned with Schlag was a treat.

My group of friends that I've made at college have been amazing and make college completely awesome.  Most of them happen to be in Sinfonia.  I've been playing a lot of smash brothers and going to "social gatherings" when I can.

To sum up college to this point... It's a lot of socializing with studying and classes interrupting constantly.  I've done a lot of practicing in Blair.  Aural Theory has been raping me constantly.  I just wish it would click for me and I didn't struggle with it, but I'll just have to keep working at it.  I've progressed a lot in both my piano and trumpet playing, which I'm really happy about.  All my other classes went fairly well too.  I also passed voice proficiency so I'll never have to deal with class voice again.

The other big then that has happened since the last entry is Dani and I breaking up.  It happened around Thanksgiving break.  I was pretty much crushed for the first few days after it happened, but thankfully my friends kept inviting me places and that kept me preoccupied.  I'd say at this point it's all past me and I'm ready to move on.  We've managed to remain friends through the process though so that's cool (Even if it did appear way easier for her to move on, I really have no idea since I wasn't around her during the break up).

Break has been pretty good so far.  I've been working at the bank again.  Which is greatly needed, I kinda dug myself into a monetary hole and need to be a little more careful with my money this upcoming semester.  I've also hung out with Tony and Jason a few times.  I really missed those guys and didn't realize it until I got home.  Hopefully I'll get more chances to hang out with them before I leave.  I'm also really excited if Tony decides to go to LVC since he got accepted and got the half-off tuition scholarship!
